    Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership and strategic direction to ensure Apollo operates in full accordance with the DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulatory framework.
    • Ensure that our CSA score and BASIC information is accurate and complete. Monitor SMS scores and work on ways to improve scores.
    • Review pending and upcoming changes to federal and state DOT regulations and inform Apollo on changes that affect them.
    • Process Drivers Qualification (DQ) files: schedule DOT physical/medical card and process previous employment verifications, road tests, Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and conduct annual reviews of MVRs for all CMV drivers.
    • Train drivers and managers on defensive driving, pre/post inspection requirements, vehicle maintenance, hours of service, drug and alcohol, load securement, etc.
    • Identify trends, training gaps, complete appropriate training and document participation and corrective actions.
    • Assist driver supervisors with investigations of incidents where a CMV was involved. Maintain DOT accident register.
    • File annual regulatory paperwork with FMCSA.
    • Monitor timecards and DVIRs for timeliness and accuracy.
    • Ensure compliance with ELD requirements in qualifying CMVs. Inspect CMVs and verify they are DOT compliant.
    • Obtain, review and distribute all DOT permits both hard copy and online.
    • Oversee and administer the DOT random drug and alcohol program.
    • Perform compliance audits to review DOT Driver Qualification files, DOT Drug/Alcohol Programs, Vehicle Inspections, Hours of Service and other appropriate items that are part of the SMS scorecard in each Division.
