We asked Max to tell us a little about himself, and his summer thus far with Apollo.
Hometown: Wheat Ridge, CO
Tell us a little about yourself: While not working or at school, I am spending a good amount of time coaching a 12 year old soccer team for my hometown soccer club. I would be considered a stereotypical Coloradoan in that I enjoy hiking 14ers on the weekend or going to Red Rocks concerts no matter who is playing. During the winter, I am constantly skiing, going to places like Winter Park and Copper, and even up to Big Sky and Jackson Hole. My dad is an IT manager at Johns Manville, my mom is a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines, and my sister is also pursuing a degree at Colorado School of Mines and is currently interning at ArcelorMittal in Indiana.
What school are you attending: Colorado School of Mines
Graduation Date: December 13th, 2019
Major: Mechanical Engineering
What is your dream job after graduation: Tough question, but I would like to either do something with advanced manufacturing such as 3D printing small parts or work in the amusement design industry. I am a roller coaster enthusiast.
What have learned while at Apollo that may help with that: Keep real world. As engineers, we get completely sucked into making the numbers work while we may not realize this would not be able to succeed in real life application. Apollo has showed me the importance of this and I will transfer this knowledge to wherever I go.
What have you been doing this Summer while at Apollo: I have been assisting Matt Stein in the Centennial Medical Plaza project with RFIs, submittals, schedule coordination, quoting, and overseeing design challenges.
Any impressions or anything else you would like to share: Apollo has been a great stepping stone for my career and for me to put into perspective how important my job is in that I design and implement with all interested parties involved. It seems there is a good amount of issues stemming from communication between the design team and the construction team. I will be keeping this in mind steadily.
